Justin’s & Margie’s Story

Please help us to make a difference!

A man holding his dog lovingly

Justin DiFazio came to CRVI in September of 2014 and lived first at the Nashopa Residence in Bloomingburg for three years before moving to Cipollone in 2017. Justin works part-time at Shop Rite in Middletown at the front end, where is does bagging and returns. However, Justin’s real passion in life is music and is especially partial to hip hop, country, and oldies. He is an aspiring disc jockey and has a full DJ portable set-up and a wonderful collection of music! He recently DJed a Halloween party at a friend’s home and also attended the Hudson Valley DJ Training Workshop in the Town of Wallkill last year.

Not only is Justin a music aficionado, but he is also a dog lover. Three years ago, he adopted a rescue dog through the Wallkill Human Society and named her “Margie.” Margie has been his constant companion since that time. She is also a favorite part of the lives of everyone at the Cipollone Residence.

A few months ago, Margie developed a growth on one of her hind paws and the specter of surgery was raised after a visit to local vet. Since Justin’s weekly wages cannot cover significant veterinary bills, the Foundation was asked to help, and our Board agreed to support Margie’s recovery. Fortunately, Margie’s surgery is not yet needed but she is being monitored regularly just in case the issue persists. Justin and Margie are inseparable, and pets bring an enhanced quality of life to all of us, especially persons with disabilities who need them for both companionship and sometimes specific services.

CRVI became part of ADAPT of the Hudson Valley in June, but Crystal Run Village Foundation continues to serve the legacy of CRVI and those who benefit from programs and services for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Hudson Valley. Philanthropic Dollars through your support will increase in importance in the years to come as public dollars will become scarcer. The quality of life of the people we support is top priority and will never be compromised.

ADAPT of the Hudson Valley is our primary partner. We anticipate, over the next five years, doubling our funding for projects, programs, and services. Our year-end philanthropic fundraising objective for our 2023 fall and year-end appeals is $50,000. We need your help to achieve this!

Voluntary, philanthropic gifts are fundamental to providing a high quality of life to people like Justin.
